Thee Balancer is based in Berlin. Initially drawn to tape experiments in the late Seventies involving recording and layering snippets from TV alongside music, this lead Thee Balancer into electronic music with the work of Throbbing Gristle cited as a major influence on his work. After a spell in Jamaica voraciously absorbing reggae and dub, Thee Balancer returned to Germany, enrolled at Cologne's Academy of Media Arts and focussed exclusively on sound design and film score, a grounding that gives his tracks a rich atmosphere and spatial depth. 'Reorder Reality', his contribution to the MuteResponse project, is a unique tribute to Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson.
